He doesn't do much since he's retired, just works on his garage studio and listens to his band play.Īfter I've hung out w/him a few more times I think I'll try to get him a slide for his left hand since you can really put a slide on any finger. it looks like it was maybe stored in the wrong position for years. There is a small scratch on the side and some marks from where the bridge is located. Everything appears original except the tuner buttons. I feel like this is one of the coolest guys I've met in a while. Gibson ES-125 1959 in very good condition. He asked me if I'd come back by and bring all my pedals so I could explain to him what each one does. He really likes talking about gear.which naturally I do as well.
GIBSON ES 125 FOR SALE CRAIGSLIST MODS
1965 Gibson ES-125 TDC (has optional Thinline hollowbody, Dual pickups, and Cutaway) Original Case Original strap No mods Recently plekd, gone over and set up by Hugh at 13th Street Guitars. I just played while he messed w/the volumes of the two mics on the cab. Just to save everyone some time, if the ad is still up, its still for sale. He's broken 5 ribs and recently his wrist. Had really bad infection and ended up in a coma for 6 months. This guy truly was inspirational.he's had a kidney transplant that took so long that it caused liver problems. He has a pretty nice looking mixer at the back of the room where he sits. You just plugin from a snake coming out of the floor by the drums. From the heads he has snakes running through the floor / under carpet. From there he runs cables out of the cabs through the walls and into heads (pictured). The top floor has 2 roomts (he may add more) for cabs to be isolated. He's spent 20k in upgrades to an outdoor garage so he could have a nice setup. I didn't want to weird him out but he said it was okay if I snapped a few pics for my wife to see. He decided if he couldn't play he'd make a place for people to play so he could always be around it. Because of this he can't really play too much and when he does his hand often scrunches up. He was in a band that was just starting out when he got bad nerve damage and lost a lot of feeling in the left side of his body. After hearing his story I wanted to make the deal work because he really seemed passionate about music. Not worth the $1,800 he is asking, but someone interested could haggle with him. This guy wanted to buy my Marshall MC412A cab but I had a better offer on it. I thought it had an interesting sort of tone, but nothing I'm too interested in. I haven't played many hollowbodies, but it seemed not to be to resonant, perhaps it needed thicker strings. The intonation was decent and seemed to hold tune good. You can tell its taken a few hits, but it is still good and functional.Īs far as the history, what the guy told me was a missionary women from the States brought it to Columbia a few decades ago, and at some point sold it to the guy that sold it to the current owner.Īs far as playability, it was functional. The case is not the original case, if it did come with case, but it is a good hardshell case. It also looks like the neck was repaired at some point near the headstock. Its playability is terrific as is the sound. The pickup was missing, though it did have the pickup cover, but the plastic looked too new to be original. model name / number: ES 125 This is a 67 year old archtop Guitar that has a fair amount of nicks and scrapes,a bit of shrunken binding but in overall fair condition There's some wear on the lower position of the fretboard, as any guitar of this age would have if they'd been played as this one has. It also did not have the original strap button on the bottom.
The truss rod cover was not original, and the knobs were missing, though the pots were there. Had the Kluson tuners, which you can't see in the pics. Gibson ES 125 1958 - musical instruments - by owner - sale There was an error loading the page please try to refresh the page. I don't have the most experience with Gibson hollowbodies, but I believe it is a real Gibson. He said he figured it out by the tuning pegs.
GIBSON ES 125 FOR SALE CRAIGSLIST SERIAL
The guitar had no serial number, and I asked how he knew the year. The guy is from Columbia, and he is trying to sell the guitar to get some drum equipment (he is a drummer currently without drums).
